The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a geophysical instrument, which makes it possible to create an electromagnetic reflection profile, or radargram, of the top-layers of the earth. With this non-destructive method, electromagnetic anomalies can be mapped and shallow geological features can be studied. The main areas of application are geotechnical, archeological, environmental and hydrological investigations. The applications of the instrument can be divided into two categories: 1) the detection and identification of buried objects, 2) local subsurface characterization |
